Guide Us Home Featuring Bodee and Bellamy
Bodee’s Journey
Bodee’s journey began unexpectedly during Thanksgiving time in 2018. He was 6 years old. He suddenly started experiencing pain throughout his entire body. We immediately took him to the children’s emergency room. After long, painful, exhausting hours of unanswered questions, he was finally admitted into the hospital in order to try to figure out what the problem was.
His Diagnosis
Bodee was diagnosed with a condition called Henoch–Schönlein Purpura (HSP). HSP is a disorder causing inflammation and bleeding in the small blood vessels. It affects the small blood vessels of the skin, joints, intestines, and kidneys.
Bodee’s case was considered severe as it did affect all aspects of his body. He also suffered many complications that sometimes develop with HSP, including emergency surgery on his small intestine.
Christmas Blessing
After over a month in the hospital, Bodee was able to come home on Christmas Eve night. Being able to be home as a family on Christmas morning was the greatest gift of all. Because of Bodee’s strength, we were finally back home together, which is what inspired this song: Guide Us Home.
Guide Us Home
The creation of this song has reminded us of all the emotions we felt along the way through Bodee’s journey. This song will be a cherished keepsake for us of the beauty of the goodness that we were surrounded by during a difficult time.
Working with Chris (Hear the Hope) has been a once in a lifetime experience that we will hold in our hearts forever. Hear the Hope has given us this opportunity to express our emotions and Bodee’s story in a way that we never imagined…through these lyrics and music. We are forever grateful for this.
