Lookin’ Up Is What Our Kid & Veterans Do Every Day
Lookin’ Up is inspired by a friend of mine who is a survivor of bullying. As a result of his challenge and experience, he turned his life around and is a world champion kick-boxer, Hollywood stunt man, TV and Movie actor, and motivational speaker. Check him out Jerry Trimble Jr.
Jerry Trimble was born in Newport, Kentucky. As a child, he was insecure, fearful and bullied on a regular basis. At age 14 he was inspired by Bruce Lee and began studying the Korean art of Taekwon-Do. Soon after, bullying became a thing of the past. In six months he began teaching the art. At 15 Jerry earned the rank of a first-degree black belt and became the number one point fighter in the Midwest U.S. At 18, he started Kickboxing and won the “Kentucky State Championship.”
Most noteworthy, In April 1979 Jerry moved to Atlanta, Georgia. in pursuit of the World Championship. Fighting under the name “Golden Boy”, he won a string of additional titles that include “Georgia”, “Southeast”, “U.S.” titles, and on April 26, 1986 he became the PKA and PKC Kickboxing Champion of the World. Jerry was rated by the international kick-boxing media as the flashiest fighter and fastest kicker in the sport, (His ‘hook-kick’ was clocked at 118 MPH) He was awarded the rank of sixth-degree black belt and hired by “Inside Karate” Magazine to write his very own column, entitled “Martial Arts a Way of Life.”
In April of 1990 Jerry retired from the ring and moved to Hollywood, California to embark on a career in the entertainment business. Within a few months Jerry signed with a talent manager and his first two auditions resulted in leading roles in the same week.
New Ways To Inspire
Jerry has been in over fifty-five feature films and TV shows that include “Heat”, (playing alongside Al Pacino) “Charlie’s Angels” Green Hornet, more recent roles include, Chesapeake Shores, The Flash, iZombie, Supernatural and others.
Jerry continues to fuel his ambitious drive into many different areas of the film industry that include acting, writing and producing, but Jerry’s main ambition is to focus on the ‘character actor’ segment of acting. He enjoys a solid expanse of ‘character’ parts so he can exhibit his varied acting talent in a wide range of roles. Jerry is also a Motivational Youth Speaker who empowers teens to get out of their comfort zone, discover their gifts and go after their dreams. He uses his real-life experiences as proof that if an insecure, fearful, bullied teen like he was can make his dreams come true, anyone can.
This song was also inspired by the amazing kids and veterans we have worked with at HearTheHope. They all have overcome amazing obstacles and every day rise to face another day of the challenge. They are courageous heroes and an incredible inspiration to us.
You don’t have to be in the movies to be a start here at Hear The Hope!
Keep Lookin’ Up
Life can deliver some hard blows. The families that support these special needs kids are amazing. We are so honored to be working with the kids and their families. At HearTheHope we are making dreams come true for kids and adults alike. Watching a mother and father beam as their child steps up to the microphone to sing their heart out on one of our songs is so touching. Watching kids meet their heroes like MLB Pitcher Bronson Arroyo and Multi-platinum artist Eliot Sloan is also wonderful.
I’m lookin up, even when I’m down. Times get hard for many of the people we work with. Sometimes it is a child with cancer or a veteran with PTS. At HTH we try to keep our friends lookin up no matter what!
